| FSX, OAHU-scenery Version 1.0 This scenery sits on top of "MegaSceneryX
- Hawaii - Honolulu and Oahu Island", SO IT REQUIRES THE MEGASCENERY
X - Hawaii - Honolulu & Oahu Island" photo scenery from
http://www.megascenery.com/ This is primarily an Autogen scenery
with some custom developed objects for the coast of Oahu.I used
autogens from default FSX for the most part as well as the FSX
Acceleration. IF you did not install acceleration, it should not be
an issue. you would just not see some of the autogens from the
acceleration package. I have also included some custom built GMAX
Objects with this package. There is a an AFCAD file for a new
fictitious Heliport that is included "PMMH".This scenery package
also includes a Mission called "Oahu Sacred Falls Landing". It is a
short mission without any surprises or twists, yet I am confident
many of you would find it interesting and very very challenging. But
do not be discouraged at the difficulty of completing the mission.
You may want to turn off crash detection to make it easier if you'd
like. The fun is in the journey..right? Lastly, I have included a
fix for my MM_PHNGv1 scenery as part of this package..By: Manny Mahadevan |

Description:
This scenery sits on top of "MegaSceneryX - Hawaii - Honolulu and
Oahu Island", SO IT REQUIRES THE MEGASCENERY X - Hawaii - Honolulu &
Oahu Island" photo scenery from http://www.megascenery.com/
This is primarily an Autogen scenery with some custom developed
objects for the coast of Oahu.
I used autogens from default FSX for the most part as well as the
FSX Acceleration. IF you did not install acceleration, it should not
be an issue. you would just not see some of the autogens from the

Lastly, I have included a fix for my MM_PHNGv1 scenery as part of
this package.
Installation:
The Installation consists of three Parts. The Oahu scenery
Installation, The Mission Installation and the MM_PHNG upgrade/fix
Installation (IF you have installed the MM_PHNGv1 Scenery).
A. MM_OAHU scenery Installation.
--------------------------------
1. Extract the zip into your main FSX Addon Scenery folder,
MM_OAHUv1
|> MM_Oahu
|> scenery
|> texture
|>MM_Oahu.Screenies
|> effects
|> sound
|>MM_PHNG.Fix
|> scenery
|>ReadMe.txt
or into a temporary folder, and manually place MM_Oahu (and its sub
dir) into the "FSX/addon scenery" directory.
2. Move all the *.fx files from "MM_OAHUv1effects" folder into your"
...Flight Simulator Xeffects" folder
3. Move all the *.wav files from "MM_OAHUv1sound" folder into your"
...Flight Simulator Xsound" folder
4. Move the MM_OAHU_Screenies folder or delete it after viewing the
screenshots so as not to clutter.
5. Start up FSX and when the welcome screen, or initial menu comes
on, select settings, then click on Scenery Library, and Add Area.
Find the Addon Scenery folder and open it, then find the MM_OAHU
folder and click on it. The name MM_OAHU should now appear in the
title window, then click OK. Then you will see MM_OAHU at the top of
your scenery library list, and click the OK tab at the bottom.
6. That's it! The Oahu scenery is Installed.
B. The "Oahu Sacred Falls Landing" Mission Installation (SP2
Required)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Extract the "MM_OAHU_SacredFalls_Mission.zip" to a temporary
folder) In it you would find a folder called "MM_OAHU_SacredFalls_Mission"
2. Copy that folder and place it within this folder of your FSX like
this (assuming C: is your FSX installation drive)
C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XMissionsThe
Good LifeMM_OAHU_SacredFalls_Mission
Now, we need to copy some sound files from your standard FSX Install
over to this new mission Sound folder.
2. Copy FROM: C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight
Simulator XSoundUIMusic (the two files)
FSX02.wav
FSX03.wav
TO: C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XMissionsThe
Good LifeSacredFalls_MissionSound
3. Copy FROM: C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight
Simulator XMissionsPilot for HireTokyoExecsound (the three
files)
TokyoExec_001.wav
TokyoExec_009.wav
TokyoExec_016.wav
TO: C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XMissionsThe
Good LifeSacredFalls_MissionSound
4. Copy 1 file
FROM : C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator
XMissionsThe Good LifeHawaiiansound
BeautifulHana_51.wav
TO: C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XMissionsThe
Good LifeSacredFalls_MissionSound
5. Copy rewards file from
From: the extracted folder "MM_OAHU_SacredFalls_Mission"
MM_OAHU_SacredFalls_MissionREWARD.RWD
To:
C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X
ewards
6. Just Double check that you have all the 6 sound files in
directory . C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight
Simulator XMissionsThe Good LifeSacredFalls_MissionSound as per
step 2-4.
FSX02.wav
FSX03.wav
TokyoExec_001.wav
TokyoExec_009.wav
TokyoExec_016.wav
BeautifulHana_51.wav
That completes the Mission Install.
C. The MM_PHNG upgrade/fix Installation (IF you have installed the
MM_PHNGv1 Scenery).
1. Copy from your extracted folder MM_OAHUMM_PHNG Fixscenery the
bgl(s) into your addon sceneryMM_PHNGscenery folder
MM_PHNG Deep.bgl
overwrite the old version.
Thats it..Enjoy!
Even though this scenery uses autogens for the most part, it would
still take a hit on performance (FPS), so you may want to use the
density settings in order to adjust the scenery for the best results
on your computer.
IF the Density settings is not sufficiant to adjust, you could
simply rename (remove) some of the BGLs in the scenery folder as .tmp
and restart FSX.
I have tried my level best to make each BGL as indepdenent as
possible. Meaning..by removing one BGL, you should not find any odd
looking scenery. If an object is dependent on another object, I have
tried to group them all in the same BGL.
Some of the candidate bgls to remove to make the scenery sparce are
the Animals and Sound bgls (Look "ani" and "sound" in the bgl
description). The BGLs in the scenery folders are fairly descriptive
to give you an idea if you can remove them and what objects they
contain. So make your own choice if you feel you have to reduce the
complexity by removing the bgls.
Credits:
First off, I want to thank Joey Sipos who made me that white dome/ball
on my request that I could use in so many different places and
conditions like that Radar you would see in many places. He came to
the rescue when I needed it the most. I put out a call for help at
AVSIM's MSFS Scenery Design Forum thread for that object and he was
there to help me out. Good going Joey. You are a trooper.
I then want to thank all my betatesters Rob, Jimmy, Harlank, Glen,
Geof, Lance and scott for helping this project with their valuable
time and feedback.
I also would like to thank Robin (Avatar toprob at AVSIM) from
Godzone Virtual Flight, for 'Real New Zealand' scenery http://www.windowlight.co.nz
who has answered many of my questions when I wanted answers on this
project. BTW, thats one hellava site for scenery builders,
particularly for beginers like me. Bless their hearts for doing
something helpful for others.
The same goes to Bill Leaming of Eaglesoft who is a habitually
helpful person to others including me on FSdevelopers forum when I
wanted to know how to use sounds with effects, Ropes and few other
GMAX tricks. Thanks Bill.
I also would like to thank many folks who make their postive and
encouraging comments on AVSIM and Megascenery forums. Encouraging
others is nice of course. I now understand that this is also the
fuel that feeds freeware developers.
My thanks to Todd Lucas who has distributed the "Fence" Objects on
FSdevelopers.com site with an explicit right to be used by others
for freeware projects that I have used here, http://www.margaritaair.com.
Bless his heart.
I want to thank mikrco aka Allen Richards from FSDeveloper.com for
the old Glory/POW-MIA object that I have used in this project. You
may want to visit mike@fsnorthwest.net for some other objects like
"Windsurfers" that you could use as AI for Hawaii.
I have used some sound files for this scenery which has an explicit
right to redistribute as non profitable ventures that I would like
to acknowledge:
The sound files that I have used are from
1. Freesound Project under their Creative Commons Sampling Plus
License. Sound files used is the Japanies Buddist Chants by
gezortenplotz. The seagull sound is by hazure.
2. The Ocean sounds, 2nd Seagull sound, the crow sound and the the
crowd sound is by Gabriel Ross of GRS Site. He has given me explict
permission for me to use this for this freeware project.
Very helpful websites:
Thanks to http://fsxmission.com/files/guides/howto/createmission/
for their awesome Tutorial and forum. That was my primary source to
get me started on this mission development.
Thnks to FSDeveloper.com for their terrific support forums for FSX
addon developers.
Thanks to AVSIM for hosting this file as well as for providing a
home for this amazing hobby.
